Math 10C: Explained

September 2011: The site for Math 10C is now available.

Drop-in Tutoring Program ($250/month):The goal of this program is to offer high school students (ages 15 - 19) drop-in tutoring where they can receive:

- Ongoing access to homework help.
- Easy to understand explanations of difficult concepts.
- Instruction to catch up on missed school.
- Tutoring in more than one course at no extra charge.
- Unit Reviews / Practice Exams.

Free Tutorial Session: All new students to the learning centre receive a 30 minute free tutorial session. Students should bring their textbooks, calculators, and any questions they need help on. Please click here to arrange a time to come in.

About Barry Mabillard: Barry has run BMLC since starting the program in 2003. Early in his career as a teacher, Barry recognized the need for a learning centre in St. Albert that focused strictly on high school mathematics and science. In the six years since the learning centre first opened its doors, many local students have taken advantage of the opportunity to receive affordable access to after-school tutoring, homework help, and exam preparation.

A central theme of Barry’s research in education is the exploration of alternative ways to express difficult scientific concepts. In 2005, Barry wrote the study guide Pure Math 30: Explained! and developed the website www.puremath30.com. This free online resource is currently used by students across Alberta, including many teachers who use the lessons and practice exams as supplemental learning materials.

Location: Drive North on St. Albert Trail until you reach the walking bridge near St. Albert Centre. Turn left onto McKenney Avenue and go down this road for 0.5 km. Mission Ridge Shopping Centre will be on your left. There are three brown buildings; the learning centre is in the back left building.
